Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1947.
Based in the Kansai region, he began his artistic expression almost entirely on his own in the late 1960s, working under the name “Noboru Fujino.” In 1969, he won an award at the 5th International Youth Artists Exhibition, and from 1971, he began showing his work under the name MOON Seung-Keun.Due to a chronic illness, he died prematurely in 1982 at the age of 34.
He has been recognized for his talent as an artist through his deeply critical and highly accomplished works, including watercolors with multiple layers of color, which he began working on intensively in the mid-1970s, prints made from photographs of fleeting city scenes, oil paintings, three-dimensional works, and photographs. It is known for its original research and practice while maintaining its isolation and not interacting closely with other artists. In 2007, he held an exhibition with artist Tadashi Yagi at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto. The exhibition documented the works of two artists whose talents were sorely missed and who have since passed away, and was an extremely valuable exhibition.
