この度、SH GALLERYでは期待の若手女性作家4人が描く「現代と人間の交差点」を開催いたします。
本展は、それぞれ異なる視点で現代の課題や個々の内面を探求する4人の若手女性作家によるグループ展です。日本の伝統や自然、人間の精神性、そして日常に潜む問いに作品を通じて紡ぎ出します。観る者の感覚や思考を揺さぶり、新たな視点を提供する彼女たちの表現をぜひお楽しみください。

SH GALLERY is pleased to present “ The Crossing of Modernity and Humanity” by four highly promising young female artists.
This exhibition is a group show of four young female artists who explore contemporary themes and their personal inner lives from different perspectives.
Through their works, the artists weave together questions about Japanese traditions, nature, human spirituality, and daily life.Enjoy their expressions, which will shake the visitor’s senses and thoughts, and offer new perspectives.

抽象はより生々しい現実なのか。
絵画なのか滲み（にじみ）なのか。
ナカバヤシはスムースな支持体の上に、オートマティズムと素早いブラシストロークで森や川にも見える滲みのようなものを描く。
道に出ないようにと不自然にカットされた街路樹は誰もその声に耳を傾けてもらえなかった彼女に、庭園を流れる水は人から守られ暗闇を出ることのない彼に、一見すると風景画にも見える絵が生々しい人々のリアルとして表現されている。そこに描かれたものは、鑑賞者のバックグラウンドや世の中の課題によってたえず変化し、絵画の身体を経験させ他人の痛みを想像させる装置となり得る。私は幼い頃から日本という国で女性として生きてきて、癒しがたい肉体の苦しみを感じてきた。その傷を癒すための作業なのか、それとも今助けを求めている人に手を差し伸べるためなのか。
どちらかだけということはないはずだ。そんな自分の世界を物質化する行為は、誰かを理解する術であり、社会との繋がりにもなっている。

Nakabayashi uses automatism and quick brush strokes on smooth supports to create a kind of blotchiness that looks like a forest or a river.The street trees cut unnaturally to keep them out of the street make her feel as if no one was listening to her voice, the water flowing through the garden makes him feel as if he is protected from people and never leaves the darkness, and the paintings, which at first glance appear to be landscapes, are expressed as the realities of people in real life.The paintings are constantly changing according to the viewer’s background and the issues of the world, and can become a device for experiencing the body of the painting and imagining the pain of others.
I have lived as a woman in the country of Japan since I was a child, and I have felt the pain of a body that is hard to heal.Is this work to heal that wound or to reach out to those who need help now?There can never be just one or the other. Such an act of making one’s world material is an art of understanding someone else and a connection to society.

情報にあふれ、多様性が尊重される現代社会では、情報を選び取る裁量が、かつてなく一個人に委ねられているのではないだろうか。
私は食品業界での経験を通じて、生き物と食べ物の間に存在する多様な価値観に疑問を抱くようになった。多様であるが故に生じる疑問や違和感を、ポートレートとして表現している。我々が日々、意識的に、あるいは無意識的に行う選択、その背景にある価値観を、作品制作を通じて考えていきたい。

In today’s society, where information abounds and diversity is respected, the discretion to select information is left to each individual more than ever before.Through my experience in the food industry, I have come to wonder about the diverse values that exist between living creatures and food.The portraits express the doubts and feelings of discomfort that arise from the diversity.Through the creation of artworks, we would like to consider the choices we make consciously or unconsciously on a daily basis and the values that lie behind those choices.

幻想的な世界観を基盤に、個の内面的な感覚や心象風景を描き出している。幼少期から影響を受けてきたゲームアートや音楽の視覚・聴覚的要素にインスピレーションを受け、現実と幻想の狭間に存在する独自の表現を追求している。現在のシリーズでは、強い意志と神秘的な魅力を宿す存在が、私自身の心情や感覚を象徴している。
その姿は、心の中で揺れ動く変化や確固たる意思の強さを示すものであり、観る者に静かな問いかけを投げかける。私にとって絵画とは、目に見えない感覚や思考、心の奥に潜むものを形にする行為である。作品を通じて、現実を超えた世界に触れる瞬間を共有できることを願う。

Based on a fantastical worldview, the work depicts an individual’s inner senses and mental landscapes.She is inspired by the visual and aural elements of game art and music that have influenced her since childhood, and pursues a unique expression that exists somewhere between reality and illusion.In the current series, beings that possess a strong will and a mysterious allure symbolize my own feelings and sensations.The images show the fluctuating changes in their hearts and the strength of the firm will, and pose a quiet question to the viewer.For me, painting is an act of giving form to invisible sensations and thoughts, things that lurk deep in the mind.I hope that through my work, we can share a moment of contact with a world beyond reality.

森田夏鈴｜Karin Morita

b. 1993, 三重県

2016 三重大学教育学部美術教育課程卒業

自身の原体験である”自然”と”食”を通じ、作品制作を行う。
食事は、古くは神聖なる儀式「神事」であった。他の命を奪い自分の命を繋ぐ、生と死が同時に存在する日常的な行為に、かつての人々は霊性を感じ、感謝や畏敬の念を表していた。しかし、大量生産大量消費社会が根付き、食品が簡単に手に入る現代では、食の本質的な意味は完全に薄れ、それと同時に、人々は自身の命に対しての実感も薄れてきているように感じる。作品を通じて、命の本質を再定義し、人々に自己との対話を促すことを目指している。

Creates works of art through her own original experiences of “nature” and “food”.The meal was a sacred ritual “ Shinto ritual” in ancient times. In the past, people felt spirituality and expressed gratitude and awe at the everyday act of taking another life and sustaining one’s own life, where life and death existed at the same time. However, in today’s society, where mass production and mass consumption have taken root and food is readily available, the essential meaning of food has completely faded away, and at the same time, people seem to have lost a sense of their own lives.Through her work, she aims to redefine the essence of life and encourage people to engage in a dialogue with themselves.
