キム・ソンヨンのアトリエは、小さくて素敵なキャラクターで溢れている。彼らは作家に代わって、いつでも想像の空間へと導いてくれる存在である。どこかにありそうな路地や長い間愛されてきたキャラクターたち、そして作家の描く少年、少女たちが出会い、誰もが知っているようで、予想外の場面を演出する。紙の上の精巧なスケッチに彩色される誠意を込めた数回の筆遣いにより、それはまるで映画の中の一場面のような作品へと完成されていく。
Sunyoung Kim’s atelier is full of small, wonderful characters. Characters are always there to guide us into the imaginary place on behalf of the artist. Alleys that could be anywhere, long-loved characters, and the boys and girls drawn by the artist meet to create scenes that seem to know everyone and are unexpected. With a few sincere strokes of color on an elaborate sketch on paper, it is completed into a work that looks like a scene from a movie.
