この度、SH GALLERYではカナダ出身のストリートアーティストCSRKの日本初個展「Eye Contact」を開催致します。

CSRKは、今回の個展にて、新作「Eye」シリーズを発表します。このシリーズは、彼の創作活動の原点であるストリートアートを反映し、重ねられたコラージュと絵画を通じて表現されています。また、支持体を意図的に劣化させることで、秩序と混沌の鮮やかなコントラストを生み出し、彼の初期の都市表現の精神を映し出しています。

2015年にモントリオールで屋外コラージュを始めて以来、CSRKは独自の世界観を共有しながら、都市空間のアイデンティティの進化にも貢献してきました。彼のアイコニックなキャラクターは、北米やヨーロッパの複数の都市の街並みに今もなお存在し続けています。

スタジオでの制作を通じて、CSRKは自身のストリートアートに新たな正当性を与え、より永続的なアプローチへと進化させてきました。屋外制作の時間的制約から解放され、彼は現在、ペイント、インク、スプレーペイントといった耐久性のある素材を使用しています。また、木製パネルや道路標識といった都市環境に密接に関係する支持体を選ぶことで、アートと都市との対話を生み出しています。

彼の屋外コラージュは本質的に儚く、外的要因によって時間とともに劣化していきます。この無常性こそが彼の作品の特異性を際立たせ、「まさにその瞬間」に作品を味わうことを鑑賞者に促します。誰もが楽しむことができる彼のストリートコラージュは、ユーモアや軽やかさ、そして深みを織り交ぜながら、人生の儚さと移ろいについて考えさせてくれます。

SH GALLERY is pleased to present “Eye Contact,” the first solo exhibition in Japan by Canadian street artist CSRK.

CSRK will present its new “Eye” series at this solo exhibition.This series reflects the origins of his creative activities in the streets, expressed through layered collages and paintings while intentionally deteriorating the supporting materials. By carefully preparing the composition and then deliberately introducing decay, he creates a striking contrast between order and chaos, reflecting the spirit of his early urban expressions.

Since beginning his outdoor collages in Montreal in 2015, CSRK has shared his unique worldview while also contributing to the evolving identity of urban spaces. His iconic characters remain proudly displayed as part of the cityscapes of multiple cities through north America and Europe.

Through his studio work, CSRK has given his street art a new legitimacy, evolving it into a more enduring approach. Free from the time constraints of outdoor creation, he now uses long-lasting materials such as paint,inks and spray paint. By selecting supports like wooden panels or road signs , elements closely related to the urban environment , he fosters a dialogue between art and the city.

His outdoor collages are inherently ephemeral, gradually deteriorating over time due to external factors. This impermanence makes his work unique, encouraging the viewer to appreciate the piece “in that very moment.” Accessible to everyone, his street collages, invite reflection on the fragility and transience of life, while blending humor, lightness, and depth.
